Jumping Cars? Log Neg or not?

There are many people who said not connect the neg terminal on the dead battery, but rather connect to solid metal (as part of engine) and some people (many things that I know), it connects. What is the correct way true? Too, Is it okay to connect a car running in the dead, or if we look at both first and then start the car again and wait a few minutes before attempting to start the dead.

It is preferable to connect the ground with something other than the stack, but only to limit the sparks that could cause a fire – rare. As to skip a race car or a non-Car Running, guess I can see both sides this argument …. but I usually keep the donor car running while I connect the cables.
