What is the difference between NiMh and mAh?

I need to buy NiMH for my camera, but continues to find Mah Batteries as they are the same mind, can I use my camera in mAh. My camera says to use Nimh Batteries in 2500 but far I bought 2000mAh, but do not want to use in case it destroys my camera

NiMH is the battery technology. 2000mAh is the amount electricity that the battery can put out. 2000mAh just means the battery can put a little less power with a power rating of 2500mAh before is completed. It is perfectly safe to use.
