iPod nano, the mid-range iPod digital music player from Apple Inc. was launched September 7 2005 with the intention of replacing mini.The gadget iPod works with iTunes on Mac OS X or Microsoft Windows connection via the same proprietary dock connector as the previous iPods using a USB 2.0 port on the user's computer. Even if it uses the same connection as Apple's FireWire iPod Cable and the ability to recharge the battery over FireWire, the iPod nano does not support syncing via FireWire. It comes with a stopwatch and a multiple time zone clock function.
IPod nano comes with a measuring 1.6 inches (40 mm) wide, 3.5 inches (90 mm) long, 0.27 inch (6.9 mm) thick weighing1.5 ounce (42 grams). The gadget from Apple said the battery life of up to 14 hours. It comes with a screen of 176×132 pixels, 1.5 "(38 mm) diagonal, and is capable of displaying 65,536 colors. The nano is available in two colors black and white with two available sizes of 2GB and the model 1 GB.
The decision by Apple to replace the iPod mini with the iPod nano was considered a risk, but the results were very positive. Almost around one million units of it were sold in the first 17 days marking a new history in sales, taking in Apple to record billion dollar profits in 2005. The second generation nano comes with a scratch-resistant anodized aluminum casing with the life of the battery level of 14 hours to 24 hours and doubled the size of storage. The latest generation of iPod nano was released in 2007, have 2-inch QVGA (320 × 240) screen and a shorter, wider, heavier design, with new colors. New features such as navigation by Cover Flow, a new user interface, video playback, and support for new iTunes Store games have been added in the latest version.
