Minidv Camcorder

If I buy a miniDV camcorder, approximately how long does it take to transfer the whole video on the tape to a PC?
I wanted to buy a camcorder, but trying to keep costs down and buy a MiniDV. But I read the search scene on the tape take some time and is frustrated. Also, how is actually copied video from a miniDV camcorder via the USB cable or SVideo? And if this is so, as the copy on the PC where you have to press up on your camcorder and press record on the software on your PC?
Transfer time doesn't change, what varies is the Quailty. Most video editing programs require registration of a "real time". Depending on your connection: USB, FireWire, composite, etc. varies depending on the level of compression reading. The average for the uncompressed video is about 10 megs for each minute of video, audio is about 1meg per channel only. If you do worry a lot about the HD space, a higher rate sample is better. If you try to save space, use a lower rate to allow more video. So, one hour DV tape takes an hour to register again for editing. Unless you use the points to make and simply use the clips you have need. But a second band is a dry save on your computer. To register: Connect your camera to the computer via USB or Firewire. Make sure the computer has ended the connection. If not, you may need to troubleshoot. Once connected, use your editing software to record video playback. So the world is yours.
