Is it possible to use third-Info spare battery lithium in a Sony Digital Camera?

Hi! Please … I have a Sony Dsc-S50 Cyber-shot digital camera and I think it is time for a Replacement Battery. The model number on my battery: NP-FM50. This battery is the Original Battery and it came with the camera. It is labeled as an InfoLITHIUM "battery. Please, Is it mandatory that I order a replacement battery from Sony, in particular, or am I safe to order a compatible online lithium or elsewhere? If yes, what site online is recommended? One site suggested that some third party batteries do not always work in Sony digital cameras. Sony, of course, I suggest that the use of their brand accessories. I'm still quite the novice and any / all advice on this subject will be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I had the opportunity to Use Battery compatible for my old Sony digital camera. But I heard that Sony lately have a way to check if the battery is a Genuine Sony InfoLithium battery. Preferable to work with a local vendor that has a good policy back – like Best Buy or Circuit City.
