Function of Digital EOS Rebel different lenses?

I am a novice of the Digital Rebel but I know there are too many glasses to compare to myself. I intend to order a T2i soon but I also want to know the basic sets of lenses and what is so special about each lens. Each objective should serve a particular purpose, non?

Since you do not know much about lenses, I assume youre a novice to any What SLR camera not only the digital Rebel series. My advice is do not worry about the huge range of lenses. You have enough on your plate just getting used to digital SLR photography period. The kit includes a lens T2i 18-55. Use it until you know the camera and we learned at least the basics of photography. Only then will you be able to make an informed decision on lens accessories. Keep mind the recommendations you receive here may be completely out of your budget. This is not always the ideal goal, but the lens and you can afford to simply do the job.
