I need help with my Canon Optura 30 camcorder!?

I plugged in using the "DV" port. The computer found but said "Usb Device Not Recognized". I like 2 hours of video that I put on my computer.'s recorded on the tape video on there. Is there a program or a free Canon to update my camera so my Windows Vista, it recognized? Or How about the port side of the camera. That is to say 'S IN / OUT ".
